Phillip is a vampire. Born in 1838 to Joshua and Maria Stevenson, Phillip had a rather uneventful life in Pennsylvania. Quiet, reserved, studious, he never attracted much attention anywhere he went. The Great War began, and he was quickly drafted into the Union Army. As much as he was willing to fight, he was given the responsibility of Mail Clerk, and, as with everything else he did, he excelled at his job.

Until July 2, 1863, which was his last living day. You might know that date as the Battle of Gettysburg, but he knows it as the day he died. And the day he returned to life, courtesy of his regimental nurse, who couldn't bear to see the young man die.

He spent many decades with the woman, but eventually, as tends to happen, they grew apart. He is a well seasoned traveler, still quiet and unobtrusive, more interested in learning than in anything else. He just also happens to be a vampire.
